BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Authorities with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public for information on a motor vehicle theft that happened Sunday, Sept. 15, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office website.
Sometime around 4 a.m., a commercial truck was stolen. When it was taken, one of the wheels was locked, which produced a black tire mark on the highway beginning on Malmo Loop Road, where Universal Transloaders is located, all the way to St. James AME Zion Church at the intersection of Hwy 87 and Hwy 17.
The truck was found Friday at the South Carolina Welcome Center at Little River, but the trailer, a 2000 Mac four-axle, is still missing. The trailer, aluminum in color, has two drop axels and a tandem axel, approximately 28 to 30 feet in length.
A vehicle described as a light-colored Buick was seen following the tractor and trailer while running its hazard lights. The driver of that vehicle, who may be a female, is wanted for questioning.
Anyone with information on the incident should contact Det. Scott Bright at 910-616-6240.
