BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A woman has been arrested and charged after being accused of stealing money from an elderly person.

According to officials with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, 38-year-old Berkley Lyn Croft, a licensed practical nurse who was employed at a nursing home in the Leland area, obtained about $1,800 out of a patient’s banking account by using her bank card without consent.

Croft, of Winnabow, has been charged with exploiting an elder adult by a person in a position of trust, which is a felony, and has been placed under a $5,000 bond.
