Authorities write 55 charges during 'Booze It and Lose It' campaign | 911

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Authorities made several arrests Friday night as part of a “Booze It and Lose It” checkpoint on Hwy. 74/76 West at the Brunswick River Bridge, according to a spokesperson for the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.

The following 55 total charges, listed below, were written, according to operation supervisor First Sgt. William Caulk:

• Driving While Impaired: 17
• Open container of alcohol: 2
• No operator’s license: 7
• Driving while license revoked: 5
• Seat belt violation: 1
• Child restraint violation: 1
• Expired registration: 4
• Expired inspection: 4
• Allow unlicensed driver to drive: 1
• Fail to register vehicle: 1
• Possession of alcohol underage: 1
• Possession of marijuana: 3
• Possession of drug paraphernalia: 4
• Possession with the intent to sell and deliver cocaine: 1
• Manufacture cocaine: 1
• Felony possession of cocaine: 1
• Maintain a vehicle to keep cocaine: 1

Along with Brunswick County, several other area law enforcement agencies in New Hanover, Pender and Columbus counties participated in the operation to crack down on drunk drivers.
