BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Deputies from the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office woke up early Wednesday morning in an effort to keep your neighborhood safer.
The Sheriff's Office had some wake up calls for suspects across the area. The Vice-Narcotics Unit conducted a large "round up" of drug offenders in Brunswick County.
A list of 70 people with various drug offences were targeted. Over 50 offenders were placed under arrest and transported to jail during Operation "Spring Sweep."
Despite the success of Wednesday's operation, Sheriff John Ingram wants his deputies to keep working hard. "We did not come this far to give up and if your name is on that list and you have not been arrested yet then I suggest you turn yourself in," said Ingram. "We want to make sure that we look into everything and get these people off the streets."
This was the first "round up" operation of the year for Brunswick County. Officials say this was the largest number of arrests made in the history of the program.
