Enjoy a free concert at BCC this weekend

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Brunswick Concert Band from Brunswick Community College is hosting a free concert Sunday.

Pack some snacks and grab your lawn chairs to listen to some local talent for a day filled with fun for the whole family.

The event will be held on the lawn in front of the Odell Williamson Auditorium at 3:00 p.m.

In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held indoors.

Don't miss the sweet sounds of All-County Honors Chorus

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Don't miss the sweet sounds of Brunswick County's Honors Chorus.  This year 300 chorus students from the elementary, middle, and high-school levels will participate and showcase their talents.

The concert will be held at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 16 at Odell Williamson Auditorium on the campus of Brunswick Community College.

There is no admission charge; however, those attending are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items for local food pantries.

Leland Celebrates the Arts with Youth Art Day

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The third annual Youth Art Day will take place in Leland this Saturday.

According to town leaders, Youth Art Day is an event for area youth to experience the many aspects of art from visual art to music.

DREAMS of Wilmington will provide several hands-on stations where youth will be able to create visual art projects including pottery and crafts and participate in African Drumming, according to a press release.

The Wilmington Area Woodturners Association will also be at the event to help with the art of woodturning.

Art activities are geared for youth ages 8 and up, but all are welcome to attend.

This program is free of charge thanks to support from the Brunswick Art Council and the North Carolina Arts Council.

The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Leland Recreation Building.

LELAND, NC (WECT) – If you're looking for some family fun, Leland’s third annual Youth Art Day will be held next Saturday, Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to a news release from the parks and recreation department.

The event is intended for children to experience various forms of art and music. There will be many hands-on activities for kids, including pottery, face painting, African drumming and other crafts.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The annual Brunswick County Schools' All-County Honors Middle and High School Band Concert will be Friday, February 8, starting at 6:30 p.m. at Odell Williamson Auditorium at Brunswick Community College. 

There will be no admission charge.

Kids to get up close look at woodturning

LELAND, NC (WECT) - Kids in Leland will get to learn more about how to carve wood.

The Wilmington Area Woodturners Association will participate in Youth Art Day on Saturday, February 16. The group will be at the Leland Recreation Center from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The event is free and aimed at children 8 and up.

The Wilmington Area Woodturners Associations consists of both new and experienced woodturners who teach, train and demonstrate the craft.

If you are looking for quality family entertainment--our own rendition of American Idol--save Saturday, February 2, for a special fun time! 

Spotlight on Talent, Brunswick County School's annual high-school talent show, will be held at 7:00 PM at Odell Williamson Auditorium on the campus of Brunswick Community College.  The outstanding student acts come from South Brunswick High School, North Brunswick High School, West Brunswick High School, and the Early College High School. 

There will be no admission charge; however, donations for the county's choral music program are always appreciated.  We also encourage those coming to bring non-perishable food or beverage items so that we can help restock our local food pantry. 

Join our Master of Ceremony, Jon Evans from WECT, and come prepared to be amazed as we showcase our very talented students!
