LELAND, NC (WECT) – Following the firing of Leland Police Chief Timothy Jayne earlier this year, the town is still in the process of interviewing and reviewing applicants in order to find a permanent chief, according to Mayor Brenda Bozeman.
In addition to the release of Jayne, three administrative positions and one position within the Building Inspections Department were eliminated.
Town leaders are anxious to find a permanent replacement so that they can start rebuilding the department with a more solid foundation.
They hope to hire the replacement by mid-November.
