BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A Southport couple recently brought a brand new car after winning a $100,000 lottery prize, according to a spokesperson for the NC Education Lottery, and two more winning tickets were also sold recently within the county.
Domenic Marabito and Debra Talley bought the winning Super Lucky 7 ticket for $5 Saturday afternoon at the Kerr Drug on North Hope Street in Southport.
After taxes, the couple won $68,001, and say that they plan to use some of that money towards paying bills, traveling, and helping their church.
“We stopped in to play our usual numbers,” said Morabito in a news release. “Then Debra asked for one of the Super Lucky 7’s tickets and I said let’s get two. As we drove off, she was scratching the tickets. She won ten dollars on the first one and then she started telling me to pull over so she could get out. There was a lot of excitement on the side of that road. It was a scene, for sure.”
This isn’t the first time a winning ticket has been sold in Brunswick County – Saturday, a Carolina Cash 5 ticket matched all five numbers, totaling to $661,409 in value. It was sold at the Palms Grocery on Ocean Highway East in Winnabow, and the corresponding winning numbers for that ticket are 8-18-19-28-35.
Additionally, a Mega Millions ticket was sold in the Aug. 31 drawing matched that four out of five white balls and the yellow Mega Ball, making it worth $10,000.
That ticket was sold in Sunset Beach, at the Food Lion on Clippers Way.
From the draw date, lottery players have 180 days to claim his or her prize.
