LELAND, NC (WECT) – Two paramedics from the Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department, Inc. took first place in the North Carolina Office of EMS Paramedic Competition in Greensboro.
According to a press release from the fire department, Chris Watford and Michael Herbert took home the top honors.
LVFRD has only been a Paramedic level provider since December 2009. Chief John Grimes says this achievement represents one of the reasons he’s so proud of his staff.
Watford and Herbert competed against eight teams and won the regional competition in July at Cape Fear Community College. They competed against four other regional winners and last year’s champions at the NC Emergency Medicine Today conference.
“These teams represent the best of the best that NC has to offer in Paramedicine,” said Chief John Grimes. “We continue to be truly inspired by the young men and women who chose to volunteer and work at Leland Volunteer Fire/Rescue Dept.”
