Gun fired inside Wilmington Cracker Barrel

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A man from Leland has been issued a citation after police say his gun went off inside the Cracker Barrel on Van Campen Blvd. in Wilmington.

Patrick Von Hall said he was carrying his .38 revolver in a holster Monday afternoon when he went inside the restaurant's restroom.  As he was leaving the stall, his revolver fell onto the floor. When it hit the ground, it fired.

The investigating officer said the round glanced off the divider between the stalls, hit the wall tile, then struck the wall near the sink, and ricocheted again to hit the ceiling.

Authorities seized the revolver and Von Hall received a citation for discharging a firearm inside the city limits.

Von Hall does have a concealed weapon permit from Brunswick County.
