Former DA Rex Gore turns himself in | Crime

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Former District Attorney Rex Gore and his assistant Elaine Kelley turned themselves into authorities Tuesday.

Gore and Kelley were indicted Monday on felonious conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses from 2005-10.

According to the indictments, they entered into a financial agreement while working together. Kelley allegedly received $14,000 in fraudulent travel expenses.

"We would like to say that we are disappointed that a question arising from an administrative decision made in 2005 has been turned into a criminal case over seven years later," said Gore's attorney, W. James Payne in a press release.
