BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – One of two men who were taken to the hospital Tuesday night after authorities responded to a call about a fight involving baseball bats has died.
According to the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to respond to a fight on Farm Meadows Road in Leland. They found Hartford Talmage Sellers III, 26, lying unresponsive in a driveway of a home on the road.
Sellers was taken to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center, along with Boyd Harrelson, 43, who was later released and charged.
It was confirmed Friday night that Sellers died around 5 p.m. at NHRMC, according to a sheriff's spokesperson.
Detectives arrested charged Harrelson and Nickolas Wayne Smith in connection to the fight. Harrelson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and Smith was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
An investigation is ongoing, and more charges are forthcoming.
