BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WEC) - Nearly 1,346 people in Brunswick County received a citation during North Carolina's "Booze It & Lose It" campaign, which ran from Dec. 7 until Jan. 2, according to a news release from the NC DOT.
Many of the citations were for traffic violations (815), including speeding (269) and DWLR (91).
Police cited 94 people with DWI, 12 of them under the age of 21 while 82 DWI charges were given to people 21 and over. Officials also cited 111 people for drug violations.
Other notable citations include 94 safety belt violations and 23 reckless driving.
There were 53 checkpoints set up in the county during this period.
