Leland looking for input on new cultural arts center

Leland looking for input on new cultural arts center

LELAND, NC (WECT) - The Town of Leland is getting ready to open a new cultural arts center and it’s asking the public for help designing it.

People got a chance to tour the building Saturday morning. The town got a good deal on the building and paid cash for it a couple of years ago. The director of the town’s parks and recreations department said the town does not owe any money on the building.

Now, the building is a blank slate for the town to design its cultural arts center.

"We're looking at all these different things right now and trying to get the public’s input on what they'd like to see and then we're going to design a facility that can accommodate those needs of the public," said the town’s parks and recreations director, Niel Brooks.

Brooks said the cost of the renovation will be part of the upcoming town’s budget. He said town officials will have a better idea of a cost of the renovations after a design is finalized.
