LELAND, NC (WECT) – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office says a recent pill drop-off event for National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day was a success.
The drop-off was held at the Walmart in Leland on Saturday, October 26 in conjunction with Dosher Memorial Hospital and the Leland Police Department.
There were more than 130 drop-offs of nearly 8,000 prescription pills. The groups also collected several hundred pounds of over the counter medications to be disposed of safely.
This year, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office has participated in three pill turn-in events with over 1,000 drop-offs and more than 32,000 prescription pills collected.
Unused or expired medication can be dropped off anytime at the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office in Bolivia and at the substations in Leland and Calabash.
