BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Roger Bacon Academy Archery Team competed Thursday for a chance to head to the NASP National tournament in Louisville, KY.
The middle school students participated in a virtual competition that allows teams across the state to compete simultaneously with officials present. The results are tallied online to declare the winners.
Teams with the highest scores qualify for the national tournament. The score is determined by the summation of the highest 12 individual scores, with at least four of both genders.
The Roger Bacon Academy Archery Team had a combined team score of 3,135, which is well over the 2,900 needed to qualify. The team's score was higher today than the teams combined score at the world tournament last year - in which they ranked 7th.
