BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A trail run fundraiser in honor of a man who lost his life to a chordoma brain tumor will be taking place soon.
Run for Ray is an event that athletes of all levels can participate in, in which runners can choose from a three-mile, a 9-mile or an 18-mile trail run.
It will be held Sat, Feb. 23 at Brunswick County Nature Park, according to www.its-go-time.com.
Run for Ray is in honor of Ray Underhill, a former Wilmington resident who died Aug. 1, 2008. The event is meant to remember his life and legacy, and proceeds from the event will go towards the Ray Underhill Foundation, his family and the Chordoma Cancer Foundation.
The terrain for the runs are said to be technical, hilly and very challenging at some points, and there will be aid stations set up along the duration of the courses.
