COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A new center officially opened in Columbus County Thursday to help unemployed people find jobs.

There was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Tri-County Share Network Job Center.  The facility is located off Highway 74/76 in Delco and will help residents in Columbus, Bladen and Brunswick counties.

Samaria Delts says she spent two years unemployed until workers with Tri-County helped her gain employment and more.

“It actually helped me get enrolled into college,” she said. “It's going to pay for my CNA class that I plan on taking up in May. It helped me learn how to make resumes and everything above and beyond.”

Maxine Lennox, the program coordinator of the center, believes it was important for them to open specifically in eastern Columbus County.

“It's so important, because this end of the county, with the distance from the college and Employment Security Commission, that we have an access point,” said Lennox.

Experts at the center will be available to help people learn how to better interview, how to build a resume, and enhance their computer skills.

The Job Center will also give businesses referrals of people who go to the facility.

The center is located just a few miles down the street from the International Logistics Park.
