NAVASSA, NC (WECT) – The town administrator in Navassa has been working with congressmen for several months in an effort to remove a penalty of nearly $35,000 against the town.
Navassa received a letter from the IRS at the beginning of the year charging them nearly $35,000 for failure to file W-2 forms with the federal government.
Town administrator Claudia Bray said they received a letter July 9 stating the penalty had been removed. According to Bray, Navassa will receive a refund of roughly $2,600.
