BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Commissioners in Brunswick County voted Monday night to combine the health and social services department into one department.
The 3-2 vote came after Commissioner Marty Cooke asked to table the proposal. Last month, the county fired the DSS Director Patricia Connelly and Commissioners wanted more control over the department decisions.
Assistant county manager, Steve Stone will head up the new combined department.
Commissioners also voted to rename the law enforcement center for long-time sheriff John Kerr Davis.
