BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Two firefighters were injured and a homeowner was taken to a hospital Saturday following a fire.
Fire officials responded to a structure fire in the 4060 block of Winnabow around 3:20 p.m., according to Scott Garner, Deputy Director of Emergency Services.
Upon arriving, firefighters from the Winnabow, Boiling Spring Lakes, Bolivia, Leland, Northwest and Tri-Beach Fire Departments found the home was fully involved and the homeowner was outside.
The homeowner was taken to a hospital, and two firefighters received minor injuries.
The home is a total loss.
A control burn that got away from the homeowner was determined to be the cause of the fire.
