BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office is implementing a new program that checks in on local citizens and asks if they’re OK.
“Are You OK?” is a free program that’s designed primarily to help older adults, disabled persons and people who live alone. All that you need to participate in the program is a phone at your home that accepts incoming calls.
Each morning, at a designated time between 7 and 10 a.m., an automated call will go out to subscribers. A recorded voice will say, “This is the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office. Are you okay? If you are okay, please hang up. If you are not okay, hang up and dial 911.”
