McIntyre to attend ribbon cutting of Brunswick Novant Medical Center

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — U.S. Representative Mike McIntyre will attend and speak at the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Brunswick Novant Medical Center opening on Saturday, July 16.

The Center will open its doors to the community for a free sneak preview event from 1 to 4 p.m.

Participants will reportedly have the opportunity to tour the new hospital and see the Center’s special features. The facility will open to patients on Sunday, July 31.

“We are excited to welcome community members to their new hospital,” said Denise Mihal, Brunswick Novant Medical Center president, in a news release.

A Tex-Mex buffet begins at 6:30 p.m. and play will begin at 8:30. Space is limited. Reservations and pre-payment are required.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — The Belville Board of Commissioners will have an open forum meeting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 14.

The meeting will be held in the Belville Elementary School gymnasium, located at 575 River Road in Leland.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The town of Sandy Creek has its first candidates for public office.

Mayor Robert B. Cruse signed up to run for re-election, while Thomas S. Sosebee wants another term on council.

The filing period runs through Friday.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — The Main Event Band will be the featured concert in Leland on Thursday, July 14.

The concert will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held at the Leland Municipal Park, behind Town Hall.

Guests are invited to bring a blanket or lawn chair for the free concert.

Town of Belville offers Open Forum this Thursday

NORTH BRUNSWICK, NC (WECT) - The town of Belville is encouraging everyone to come out this Thursday for an Open Forum with the town Mayor and Commissioners.

The forum will have no formal agenda.  It's just an opportunity for people to speak about what's on their minds.

Brunswick Co. residents invited to take ECU survey

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) — East Carolina University’s Center for Sustainable Tourism is asking residents in Brunswick County to participate in a survey about tourism.

The study is reportedly being funded by the North Carolina Sea Grant Program, which provides “research, education and outreach opportunities based on issues that affect the N.C. coast and its communities.”

Dr. Patrick Long, the Center for Sustainable Tourism Director, said in a news release, “This study will offer important data to community planners, land developers, public officials, vacation rental and real estate personnel as well as residents in these tourism dependent areas, to better understand and manage the changes that tourism brings to their communities.”
