LELAND, NC (WECT) – A Leland family came very close to topping Beyonce, a Dachshund puppy from California that is vying for the title of the “world’s smallest dog.”

Polly Pockets is a 6-week-old Jack Russell Terrier and Chihuahua mix breed. She weighs 9 ounces and is only 5½ inches long. She is the daughter of Dot Dot and Roxas, and her four brothers died shortly after birth.

Her owners, Jason Navarro and Michael Jones, said she is not up for adoption.

Beyonce, who was born on March 8 to a rescue dog that was found abandoned, weighed just 1 ounce and could fit into a teaspoon.
