Craig Reck joined the WECT news team in February 2011 as a General Assignment Reporter. This is his first full-time reporting job after graduating from Ohio University in June 2010.
While he was a Bobcat in Athens, Ohio, Craig earned a degree in Broadcast Journalism from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. As important as that piece of paper might be, it does not compare to the invaluable experience Craig gained at WOUB Radio & TV & Radio in Athens. He enjoyed his time at WOUB so much that he even stepped away from the news room to host the station's educational web series "Down and Dirty Science."
Before he leapt into the professional world, Craig traveled to Merida, Mexico for an internship with XHST Canal 13 Telenoticias. Thanks to a scholarship from Scripps' Institute for International Journalism, Craig combined his journalistic skill set with his love of Spanish. Already familiar with Merida after a semester abroad, Craig balanced a schedule of interning at the TV station and free lance reporting for the web.
No bio would be complete without a mention of Craig's family. His older brother and sister are lucky enough to live in Hawaii, while his wonderful parents reside in Craig's hometown of Washington, PA. Though they're spread across the U.S., the Reck's continue to provide Craig with love and support.
Now that he's in Wilmington, Craig looks forward to becoming an active member of the Port City community and exploring all of Southeastern North Carolina.
Feel free to contact Craig with any tips, hints or just a simple "Hello!" You can also follow him on Twitter and "Like" his fan page on Facebook.
